The power of running helped me overcome an addiction to cigarettes which started at 11 years old to running the New York City Marathon at 30 years old. And at 46 I am still running. I smoked my first cigarette when I was eleven years old. By the time I was thirteen I was smoking a pack a day. When I began to seriously attempt to quit in my early twenties I was often puffing down two packs, or nearly 40 cigarettes a day!
